Phrases for clarifying and buying time in English
Pergunta
Flashcard: what are natural English phrases for asking a clarifying question, buying a moment to think, or admitting you don't know — without sounding lost?
Resposta esperada
Clarifying: "Just to make sure I understand the requirements...", "When you say X, do you mean...?", "Should I assume...?". Buying time: "Let me think about that for a second.", "That's a good question — give me a moment to structure my answer.". Not knowing: "I haven't worked with that directly, but here's how I'd approach it...", "I'm not certain — my best guess is X, and I'd verify by...". All of these sound more senior than filler silence or a rushed wrong answer.
