Technical false friends: PT→EN traps
Pergunta
Which Portuguese→English 'false friends' trip up developers in interviews, and what are the right words?
Resposta esperada
Common ones: 'atualmente' is NOT 'actually' — it's 'currently' ('actually' means 'na verdade'). 'eventualmente' is NOT 'eventually' — PT means 'occasionally/possibly', EN 'eventually' means 'no fim das contas'. 'pretender' is NOT 'to pretend' (that's 'fingir') — it's 'to intend/plan to'. 'realizar' as in 'realizar uma tarefa' is 'to carry out/perform', not 'to realize' (perceber). 'exquisito' → 'weird/odd' is 'estranho'; 'exquisite' means 'requintado'. 'library' is 'biblioteca', not 'livraria' (bookstore). 'push'/'pull' in git are fine, but 'puxar' a feature into scope is 'to pull in' — 'push a feature' means to advocate for it. 'assist to a meeting' → 'attend a meeting'. 'make a question' → 'ask a question'. 'explain me' → 'explain to me'.

Flashcard de vocabulário. Falsos cognatos são erro barato de eliminar e caro de manter — 3-4 decorados cobrem a maioria dos deslizes em entrevista.
